On May 20-21, 2019, the two-day "Los Angeles - Guangzhou - Auckland Three Cities Economic Union" 2019 annual meeting was held in Auckland. The main topic of the summit was the cooperation between the three cities in the fields of economy, trade and innovation. The participants discussed the topics of industrial innovation, data sharing, entrepreneurship support and so on.
Zhang Shuofu, secretary of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee, Phil Gough, mayor of Auckland, and Jeff Greyer, deputy mayor of Los Angeles were represented respectively. GDIC was invited to attend the summit.

 

 

During the meeting, the three cities jointly signed a memorandum of emergency cooperation.
Zhang Shuofu, Secretary of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee, said that the participants of the Three Cities Economic Alliance were welcome to seize the opportunity of the "the Belt and Road" international cooperation, further explore the opportunities for in-depth cooperation in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, and work together to create new highlights of international cooperation.
Auckland Mayor Phil Gough said that the three-city economic alliance has become an important platform for exchange of information and investment opportunities, strengthened the economic and trade relations between Auckland and China and the United States, and provided Auckland with huge business, employment and economic growth opportunities. In addition to the deepening of economic and trade cooperation, the exchange of experience of the three cities in the fields of climate change and innovation is also deepening.
Jeff Greyer, deputy mayor of Los Angeles, said that since the establishment of the Three Cities Economic Union, the three cities have set new highs in economic cooperation, investment and tourism exchanges, which has benefited Los Angeles a lot.
